They may expect 1.2 mil, but the thing is both companies are already there technically. Both have subscribers there, and so far, even though we do not ship to Canada, I already have Canadien customers asking for Sirius at an equal rate of XM.
The lower parts of Alaska are within both XM and Sirius satellites range. Also many fishing boats use them out while on their tours into Alaska.

You own XM stock or something there Oaktown? Geez, this isn't a contest, I was just telling what the facts were and are. Who's to say that Sirius doesn't pick up 2 mil or more from Canada? Who's to say that XM will get 1.2 mil...they may get less?
I think the only fact you've brought up thus far in this discussion has been that O&A are on XM Radio. That's been about it.

hey quit relying on probability to prove your point...once again wait for a few years and argue again

And those numbers aren't proabability--it's merely showing a trend. Anyone can make any assumption they wish based on those trends. I'm just saying that 20% against 200% tells me who's more popular right now.

Maybe, but by then XM will be around the same # of subscribers, and in 2007 NASCAR comes to Sirius. Do you think that will yield huge #'s, given the fan base of it, especially here in the South? I'm just saying it's possible, given all the numbers and things coming down the pike for XM & Sirius that they'll be on even footing #'s wise here pretty soon...I'm not saying XM will go out of business, you & O & A have no reason to worry. I'm just saying there'll be healthy competition, and that may even help monthly prices and expand each system's package--this competition between the two is a good thing.

The Howard Stern deal aside, I have XM. I got it for Sports, I love the Redskins but if you tell me I can listen to 162 Reds Games and every Maryland Basketball game well then you've sold me. I guess it comes down to which sports you like more and I like Baseball and College Basketball better.

Exactly! That is also why neither company will completely fold. Sirius, or XM may be sold to someone else, but both will always remain in my opinion, and who knows. Maybe another satellite radio company will spring up in the future.

Correct me if I'm wrong Stripes, but aren't there aftermarket CD players that are both XM and Sirius ready or "satellite ready"? It's possible to get both if you want them both, correct?

One thing that I wish XM would have done like Sirius is allow you to listen to both teams broadcasters at sporting events. I love listening to a close play for say the Cowboys, and then flipping over to hear the Eagles annoucers say how bad the call, or play was in their opinion.

Yes, now you have the opportunity to purchase tuners for both companies for most of today aftermarket receivers. In the past, most companies had an allegiance to either XM, or Sirius, but now most say "SAT" ready so that you have the option, or you could possibly run both services on the head unit.
